So what does a "men's formation group" do?
Catholic Man Cave
Lecture Series
ounds boring right?
Lecture? Dude, seriously?
Series? More than one? No way.
Mondays? Isn't football on?
I get it. This certainly doesn't sound as exciting as football, or a night out or even time spent with family, but remember faith is not about emotion, it needs to be built on a stronger foundation. That foundation is commitment to a greater good, commitment to becoming a GODLY man, not just a good man.
The Core leaders of this group are committed to creating an environment where men can be educated and inspired. Learning our faith is a very important part of living our faith. These nights are devoted to offering presentations by talented speakers from around the Diocese who lead us into understanding our Church and what she teaches in a clear, concise and refreshing way.
Some of our past presentations include:
-"Understanding our Call to Holiness" By Fr. Lachlan Cameron
-"My Greatest Miracle" The story of Anthony Fuina and St. Padre Pio
-"The Virgin Mary and the Theology of the Body" By Fr. Charles Mangano
-"Obamacare and you" by Charles Mailloux of Catholic Ministry Team
-"A Biblical Walk Through the Mass" BY Dr. Edward Sri
-and many more!
The Lecture Series meets every third Monday of the month in Msgr. Leonard Hall. We begin at 7:30pm with DINNER, prayer and song and end around 9:00pm with evening prayer or the rosary. There is time for Q&A after the presentation. Refreshments are served.

signposts
As great as learning our faith was and as much as we were growing in knowledge of Church teachings and our relationship with God and each other, we felt something was missing. After some prayer we understood it to be a study of Holy Scripture.
Hold on! I know, I know. A lecture series AND a bible study. Too much work. WRONG!
Signposts is a tool that allows us to read the bible at our own pace, little bits at a time all the while asking us to connect the passages read to our own lives. It's kind of like read the instruction manual while you are putting the project together...it makes sense to do it that way right? Well the same thing with the bible!
Our project is our everyday life, the instruction manual is scripture. By going to the bible and reading it, meditating on it and allowing God to speak to us through it, we find the inspiration to live life to the fullest as real catholic men!
Signposts is a bible based discussion group. It is primarily a group where men share their experiences and opinion on how Scripture is speaking to them. However that being said, no one is forced to talk. We have pliantly of guys who come for the scenery, just soaking up the wisdom..(or foolishness!) from the other guys. It's a hands on experience that really CHALLENGES you to look at your heart, your habits, your lifestyle and see if God is number 1.
Signposts meets the First MONDAY of Every Month at 7:30pm in the Rectory Lower Level. The meeting usually lasts until 9:00pm. We supply you with the Signposts workbook, you must BYOB. (Bring your own BIBLE!)
For upcoming dates, lessons and scripture readings, please see our UPCOMING EVENTS page.
